Armed robbers raid NFA compound in Marikina
At least 10 gunmen clad in police uniforms barged into a National Food Authority (NFA) compound in Marikina City Wednesday night and took away a vault which was reportedly full of cash.
Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr., Marikina police chief, said the 10 heavily-armed men were wearing uniforms of the Special Weapons and Tactics when they barged into the NFA compound.
Ramos said the gunmen barged into the compound while an NFA truck was entering the warehouse.
The gunmen disarmed the compound’s security guards and quickly ordered some 20 workers to stay down on the ground while they divested them of their cellular phones and wallets.
The workers told the police that the gunmen immediately went to their office area and dismantled the doors.
The gunmen spotted a cash vault inside the office and ordered some workers to load it to a waiting Tamaraw FX.
Ramos said the workers were hauled by the suspects into a certain area inside the compound before escaping.
Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Candelaria, member of the mobile patrol of the Marikina Police Community Precinct 6, said his team passed by the NFA compound while the burglary was being committed.
The policeman, however, said a security guard posted outside the compound signaled them while they were passing and told them that everything was in order.
The police later found out that the security guard was actually one of the suspects.
