Day 1 – Travel to Chile: Discover Santiago de Chile
Welcome to Santiago! Home of Pisco Sour, a variety of seafood and marvelous Cabernet Sauvignon, Santiago is considerate as the safest city in South America- the capital of Chile, the country of the extremes, it is the perfect base to explore the country, or just enjoy a few days between the mountains and the ocean. Upon arrival, you will be taken to the hotel (private service). You will have the rest of the day free, to relax and enjoy the first glances of this beautiful city.
Day 2 – City tour to explore Santiago
After breakfast, you will meet with the guide at the hotel and transfer to Santa Lucia Hill where their tour begins (private service). The Spanish conqueror Pedro de Valdivia, the founder of the city of Santiago, arrived in this place on 12 February 1540. From the Caupolicán terrace, we can admire the Hidalgo castle (formerly a Spanish fortress) and enjoy a beautiful view of the central and western districts of the city. The tour continues with Constitution Square and the palace “La Moneda”, the current seat of the government. We walk to “Plaza de Armas”, the main square, surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the palace of the Royal High Court, the Main Post Office and other buildings of historical interest. The vehicle takes us to San Cristobal hill. On the way, we can see the Central Market, the Mapocho Station, the Forestal Park and the Museum of Fine Arts. Free time on the hill to enjoy a “mote con huesillo”, a typical Chilean drink. Transfer back to the hotel.
Note: You can also have the option to ascent San Bernado Hill by cableway. Please note that this has an extra-cost (not included in the tour).
Day 3 – Santiago de Chile – Viña del Mar & Valparaiso Tour
In the morning you will be picked up (shared service) for the full day excursion to Viña del Mar & Valparaiso, located 100km from Santiago, by the Pacific Ocean. Valparaiso is a colorful city hanging on the hills in front of the Ocean. Its historic center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, for its unique characteristics. Since the city is built on hills, the traditional transport system was designed with elevators. You will visit the main points of the city such as: the elegant Victoria Square (famous for the interesting sculptures brought from Lima at the end of the Pacific War between Peru and Chile); the Sotomayor Square and Pratt pier (where boat rides in the bay are offered); and the hills with their picturesque houses and ancients elevators. From here you will head to the modern Viña del Mar, the favorite summer resort of the Santiagueños, where you will have some time to relax in the beach. In the afternoon, transfer back to Santiago
Day 4 – Santiago de Chile
