DAY 02: MATAMATA - ROTORUA
New Zealand has become synonymous withthe Middle-earth of JRR Tolkien's famousbooks since the release of theblockbuster Lord of the Rings film trilogy,directed by New Zealander Sir PeterJackson. Scattered around New Zealandare spots that were transformed into sets forthe three movies and thesubsequent Hobbit sequels. One of themost famous was that of The Shire, home tothe plucky hobbits, and while filming hasfinished, today you can still visit The Shireand see where the movie magic wascreated.Tucked away on picturesque privatefarmland near the small town of Matamatain the North Island's Waikato region is theHobbiton Movie Set, which draws visitorsfrom around the world for guided Hobbitontours to see the famous Hobbit holes, alongwith the Mill and The Green Dragon andother sights you'll recognise from the films.Continue your journey to Rotorua and wemake our way to Te Puia, one of NewZealand's foremost cultural venues. At TePuia's marae (meeting house) you willreceive a traditional welcome and be invited to experience a Māori cultural performance,in which ancient and modern stories are toldthrough song, dance, poi and stick games.You'll gain an understanding of this uniqueculture and its history and be thoroughlyentertained by the talented and charismaticperformers. DAY 03: AUCKLAND - QUEENSTOWN

See our agriculturalindustry in action at the Agrodome, aworking organic farm where you can find outall about farming life in New Zealand, watcha sheep shearing display and see sheepdog trials where the hard-working farm dogsshow off their amazing skills.Continue your journey back to Auckland todrop off at Auckland domestic airport foryour flight into Queenstown.Arrive Queenstown, pick up by our SouthIsland driver guide and transfer to dinner.Gondola Ride at Bob’s Peak and dinner at Skyline Queenstown. DAY 04: MILFORD SOUND
Take an unforgettable journey into the heartof Milford Sound, New Zealand's mostfamous tourist destination. You'll experiencethe world-famous fiord in all its natural glory– surrounded by dense rainforest, glacier-carved valleys and beautiful waterfalls.Leaving Queenstown, travel in comfortalong the shores of Lake Wakatipu and intosouthern farmland to Lake Te Anau, thelargest lake in the South Island. After amorning tea stop (own expense), travelalong the lake and into Fiordland NationalPark. Enter the picturesque Eglinton Valley,a place of ancient alpine forest and gushingwaterfalls and one of only a few road-accessible glacier valleys in New Zealand,and take advantage of the photoopportunities on offer along the MilfordRoad, like the stunning Mirror Lakes, whereon a calm day the surrounding mountainranges are perfectly reflected in the still waters, and Knobs Flat, where glaciershave carved their mark on the terrain.
Your glass-roof coach will provide amazingviews of the dramatic skyline as you crossthe Main Divide of the Southern Alps, withstunning mountain peaks all around. Stop atMonkey Creek and sample some of thepurest water in the world (but watch out forcheeky kea - native mountain parrots!).Travel under the mountains throughthe Homer Tunnel, a 1.2km passagewaydrilled into solid rock, then experience TheChasm, a short but impressive walk overfootbridges spanning a series of powerful,swirling waterfalls and rapids.At Milford Sound, board your 1 hour 45minute Southern Discoveries Scenic Cruiseand set off to explore the region thatRudyard Kipling called the Eighth Wonder ofthe World. Travel the length of the fiord andout to the Tasman Sea, gliding past glacier-scarred rock walls and waterfalls thattumble through valleys and crash into thesea far below. Lush native forest clings tosteep cliffs, while wildlife including seals,penguins and dolphins are regular visitors tothe icy waters. Mountain ranges surroundthe fiord, including Mitre Peak which risesdramatically from the depths to a height of1,692 metres above sea level.Along the way your captain will providelively and informative commentary. Day 07 CHRISTCHURCH – AUCKLAND DEPARTUREDiscover the fascinating historyof Christchurch on a half day citysightseeing tour. Take in the sights of thecentral city and its surrounds and see howthis beautiful city is recovering from thedevastating 2011 earthquake.Tour around central Christchurch. Yourdriver guide will tell you about the history ofthe city from its pioneering days to thepresent day. You will view some of theareas affected by the earthquakes, see howChristchurch is preserving some of its iconicheritage buildings and learn about the latestplans for restoration of the inner city.Experience the natural beauty of HagleyPark, the Avon River and Botanic Gardens,as well as the recently reopened NewRegent Street with its distinctive SpanishMission style architecture, andthe Re:START mall, an innovativedevelopment created entirely out of shippingcontainers! Following your Christchurch city tour, wehead towards the picturesque seasidevillage of Sumner where there is time toexplore the beach and its interesting rockformations. Day 08 AUCKLAND CITY TOUR -DEPARTURE
Today, you will be more fascinated byAuckland by experiencing it’s morning CityTour. Travel through the city centre,along Karangahape Road with itschequered past and eclectic vibe, pastfashionable Ponsonby and overthe Auckland Harbour Bridge, enjoyingviews of the Hauraki Gulf and city skyline.Visit the Viaduct Harbour and Auckland'sfamous Queen Street before continuing tothe Auckland Domain.The Domain is the city's oldest park and, at75 hectares, one of its largest. Developedaround an extinct volcano, it featurestropical gardens, duck ponds and public art,and is also home to the Auckland War Memorial Museum. After visiting the Domain, the tour continuesto Parnell Village for a brief morning teastop (own expense). The historic buildingsof Parnell have been transformed into atrendy shopping area featuring a range ofboutiques, craft and specialty stores.Our tour will then take you along the scenicwaterfront route of Tamaki Drive to MichaelJoseph Savage Memorial Park, aboveMission Bay. Named after one of NewZealand's most revered Prime Ministers, thepark, with its formal gardens and tranquilatmosphere, offers a panoramic outlook over the picturesque Eastern Bays,Auckland city and the Waitemata Harbour.
